The L6480 device, realized in analog mixedsignal technology, is an advanced fully integratedsolution suitable for driving two-phase bipolarstepper motors with microstepping.
It integrates a dual full bridge gate driver forN-channel MOSFET power stages withembedded non dissipative overcurrent protection。Thanks to a unique voltage mode driving modewhich compensates for BEMF, bus voltage andmotor winding variations,the microstepping ofa true 1/128-step resolution is achieved. Thedigital control core can generate user definedmotion profiles with acceleration, deceleration, speed or target position easily programmedthrough a dedicated register set. All applicationcommands and data registers, including thoseused to set analog values (i。e。 current protectiontrip point, deadtime, PWM frequency, etc.) aresent through a standard 5-Mbit/s SPI. A very richset of protections (thermal, low bus voltage,overcurrent and motor stall) makes the L6480device“bullet proof”, as required by the mostdemanding motor control applications.

The EVAL6480H and EVAL6482H are two demonstration boards based on L648x devices implementing a complete stepper motor driver for high power applications. They are designed to operate with a supply voltage ranging from 10.5 V to 85 V and mount eight STD25NF10 MOSFETs with a maximum current of 25 A r。m。s..
In combination with the STEVAL-PCC009V2 demonstration board and the SPINFamily evaluation tool, the boards provide a complete and easy to use evaluation environment allowing the user to investigate all the features of the L648x devices. Both the boards support the daisy chain configuration making them suitable for the evaluation of the devicesin multi motor applications.
